There are a few options before Security including Indian fast food and a Cold Stone Creamery, where your ice cream and customized extras are mixed together on a marble slab. Once past Security, you can eat and drink your way around the world at over 40 restaurants, cafés and bars throughout Concourses B & C. Artisan pizza can be found at Rossovivo and local bistro-café favourite Paul serves international meals. For a pre-flight drink head to the Moët & Chandon or Jack Daniel's bars, and make sure to stop off at Wafi Gourmet to try out Dubai's equivalent of Harrods.

A couple of newsstands sell essentials before Security. Once through Passport Control, the departure retail space has around 30 outlets across the 2 concourses where you can shop for everything from exclusive fashion brands, to designer perfume and cosmetics, from toys and wooden craftwork to cigars and Turkish Delights. Gold bars are even on sale here. The stores tend to be clustered along the centre of the terminal, with dining areas at either end. Look out for the raffle run by Dubai Duty Free at both concourses; tickets are expensive but are limited to only a small number of a thousand or so, giving you excellent odds to win a luxury car or motorbike.
