About The Airport

Cancún International Airport is Mexico's biggest for international passengers. The airport has 4 terminals including Terminal 4, which opened in November 2017. Terminal 1 is used only for charter flights and private aviation.

There's no free Wi-Fi, but you can get complimentary Internet access at our Priority Pass lounges in Cancún Airport.

The airport is 12km from downtown Cancún and 20km from the hotel zone.

Taxi - prepaid taxis are available in the ground transportation area. Pay for your ride at the Prepaid Taxi booth in the Arrivals hall; you'll get a ticket to give to your driver.

Bus - a coach service operates between the airport and downtown Cancún. Buses also run to Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

Hotel shuttle - the Bel Air Collection Resort & Spa Cancun, Comfort Inn Cancún Aeropuerto, and Courtyard Cancun Airport are among the hotels offering a free airport shuttle for guests. Most are 20-30 minutes away.

Car rental - there are several car rental services to choose from at the airport.

The parking lot is directly by the main entrance to the airport.

A free inter-terminal shuttle bus runs every 10 minutes.

There are no in-airport hotels.

Airport Expert

The porters have been described as pushy by many travelers - a simple 'no gracias' is the best way to decline their services if you don't want them.

All international travelers need to complete a Tourist Card on arrival, including children.

You keep one half of the slip which is returned when leaving the country; if you lose it or forget to bring it, you may need to settle a cash fine on departure. To avoid the queues and save time at the airport, print the cards and complete them in advance at www.cancunairport.com/tourist-card.

Although many outlets take credit and debit cards or USD, you will definitely need Mexican Pesos while in Mexico.

Be aware that local ATMS can charge hefty fees for cash withdrawals.

Healthy Travel Tip

Cancún Airport can be hot and humid. It's best to wear layers so that you have comfortable, light clothing when you get there. With temperatures reaching over 86℉ in the summer months, you may want to carry a travel-sized sunscreen with you, if you're arriving during the day.
