Helsinki Vantaa

Helsinki, Finland

About The Airport

Around 90% of Finland's international air traffic passes through Helsinki. The airport has one terminal and a minimum connection time for transfers of just 40 minutes - one of the shortest in the world. Domestic and EU Schengen zone flights operate from Gates 05 to 36, while non-Schengen depart from Gates 37 to 55. Signs are in multiple languages including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.

Free Wi-Fi for unlimited access.

Helsinki Airport is 17km from Helsinki city center.

Taxi - taxi stands are outside the Arrivals. Fixed-fare shared taxis, charter taxis and other special services are also available.

Bus - several bus routes link the airport with Helsinki city center and other cities in the region. An Express Bus takes just 30 minutes to reach central Helsinki.

Train - the new Ring Rail Line links the airport, central Helsinki and the rest of Finland. At peak hours, the trains run every 10 minutes into the city centre. The airport station can be reached by escalators and lifts from the arrivals level. You'll need to buy your HSL ticket in advance online; you can also get them from the machines at the station entrance, from the tourist info desk or from one of the convenience stores.

Hotel shuttle - free hotel buses from both terminals stop at the Bonus Inn Airport Hotel, Best Western Hotel Pilotti, Cumulus Airport, Holiday Inn Helsinki Vantaa and Cumulus Resort Airport Congress Center.

Car rental - car rental desks are located in the arrivals level of the terminal.

Five parking lots offer short and long-stay parking. You can reserve a parking space online.

The GLO Hotel Vantaa Airport is in the Terminal. GoSleep Pods (covered sleeping chairs) can be rented by the hour; they can be found near Gate 12.

The Hilton Helsinki Airport and the Scandic Helsinki Airport are connected to the Terminal by a covered walkway – you can get a room for the day at the Hilton if transiting.

Healthy Travel Tip

Get some fresh air and enjoy the runway views from the Scenic Terrace. It has outdoor and indoor sections, so you can watch the planes taking off even when it's chilly.

We do our best to keep these guides as up-to-date as possible, but cannot guarantee that they fully reflect the current state of every airport, where changes can happen frequently and without notice. Please contact us with any feedback.
