Social media influencer Ryan Zhu lived at Helsinki airport for 30 days in 2017 as part of a marketing campaign to promote the airport as the best in the world.
If you'd like to see how the airport operates, you can book a tour online.
Helsinki Airport is 17km from Helsinki city center.
Taxi - taxi stands are outside the Arrivals. Fixed-fare shared taxis, charter taxis and other special services are also available.
Bus - several bus routes link the airport with Helsinki city center and other cities in the region. An Express Bus takes just 30 minutes to reach central Helsinki.
Train - the new Ring Rail Line links the airport, central Helsinki and the rest of Finland. At peak hours, the trains run every 10 minutes into the city centre. The airport station can be reached by escalators and lifts from the arrivals level. You'll need to buy your HSL ticket in advance online; you can also get them from the machines at the station entrance, from the tourist info desk or from one of the convenience stores.
Hotel shuttle - free hotel buses from both terminals stop at the Bonus Inn Airport Hotel, Best Western Hotel Pilotti, Cumulus Airport, Holiday Inn Helsinki Vantaa and Cumulus Resort Airport Congress Center.
Car rental - car rental desks are located in the arrivals level of the terminal.
The GLO Hotel Vantaa Airport is in the Terminal. GoSleep Pods (covered sleeping chairs) can be rented by the hour; they can be found near Gate 12.
The Hilton Helsinki Airport and the Scandic Helsinki Airport are connected to the Terminal by a covered walkway – you can get a room for the day at the Hilton if transiting.
Regardless of the airline you fly or ticket you hold, membership means a warm welcome awaits.
