About The Airport

A glossy four-story shopping mall is the highlight of this clean, modern airport. Its extensive facilities and contemporary architecture have previously earned it several awards from organizations such as Skytrax and the International Air Transport Association. The airport is currently the biggest and busiest in Malaysia and has 2 terminals; the Main Terminal (KLIA) for international flights, and the newer Terminal 2 (also known as klia2) for low-cost airlines.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the airport for up to 3 hours at a time.

The airport is around 45km from Kuala Lumpur city center.

Taxi - prepaid taxis are available. You'll need to buy a coupon at the Airport Limo counters in Arrivals and Domestic Baggage Claim. Metered taxis are available on Levels 1 and 3 of the Main Terminal - you'll need a coupon to board one.

Bus - bus services connect the airport with downtown Kuala Lumpur and further afield. The coach station is on the ground floor of Block C Short Term Car Park.

Train - 2 train lines serve the airport: KLIA Ekspres takes travelers between KLIA and KL Sentral station in 28 minutes and KLIA Transit makes 3 stops along the route.

Car rental - car rental desks are in the Arrivals Hall.

Limousine - Premier and Super Luxury limousines are available from the Airport Limo counters.

There are 2 parking lots, plus Preferred Parking where you can park close to the terminal building for an extra charge.

The Aerotrain people mover takes travelers from the Main Terminal to its satellite building where international flights are based. A free transfer service is also available for travelers with interconnecting flights between the Main Terminal and klia2, but you need to reserve in advance. To do so, go to Terminal Transfer on the airport's website.

There are several hotels in the airport: Capsule by Container Hotel; Concorde Inn KLIA; Sama-Sama Express; Sama-Sama Hotel; Tune Hotel - klia2 and Tune Hotel Aeropolis, Airport Hotel.

Healthy Travel Tip

If you're in need of rejuvenation, there's a Reflexology and Massage Center staffed by skilled therapists on Level 5 in the Main Terminal, and Level 1A in klia2. There's also a spa on Level 3 of klia2.
