About The Airport

Kempegowda Bangalore International Airport, which opened in 2008, is very modern and easy to get around, with a small selection of eateries and stores. It is named for Kempe Gowda I, the leader that founded Bangalore in the 1500s. India's third busiest airport by passenger numbers, it has one terminal serving both domestic and international flights.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the airport for 45 minutes. For unlimited access, head to a Priority Pass lounge.

The airport is around 40km from Bangalore city center.

Taxi - there are 3 official taxi providers at the airport: Karnataka Taxi (tel. +91 98801 21969 / 080 4155 3333), MegaCabs (tel. +91 4747 4747) and Meru Cabs (tel. +91 4422 4422). Air-conditioned vehicles are available for a higher fare. Pre-ordering a taxi from the airport is considered the safest and cheapest option.

Bus - a 24-hour bus service connects the airport to Bangalore City, with around 10 different routes. Flybus provides a service from the airport to Mysore and Manipal.

Car rental - 4 agencies offer car rental at the airport. It is recommended that tourists also hire a driver.

The parking lots are 100-200 meters away from the terminal building. P1 is for 2-wheeled vehicles, P2 is budget and accessible parking, and P3 is premium parking.

Bangalore only has one terminal, so transfers are straightforward.

The boutique Plaza Premium Airport Transit Hotel is open to travelers with onward boarding passes or flight tickets. It's on Level 2, Domestic Departures.

As there aren't many international flights from here, you're unlikely to have to wait long at Check-in or Security, but lines are longer for internal flights.
