Bangkok Don Mueang Intl

Bangkok, Thailand

About The Airport

Asia's oldest airport is one of two serving Bangkok. Don Mueang International caters to low-cost airlines and domestic flights, as well as international flights. It is also thought to be one of the oldest airports in the world, having first opened over 100 years ago. There are 2 terminals - Terminal 1 is for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic services.

Free Wi-Fi is available for 2 hours.

The airport is 24km from downtown Bangkok.

Taxi - metered taxis are available outside the Arrivals halls. There's an airport surcharge and travelers also pay any toll fees. It is recommended that travelers have the address of their intended destination written in Thai.

Bus - a dozen or so bus routes connect the airport with points around Greater Bangkok. If you're transferring to Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok's other international airport, you can take a free shuttle bus, which runs from 05.00 to 23.00. Though the transfer should only take 1 hour, leave yourself plenty of time as traffic can sometimes double or triple the normal journey duration.

Train - a bridge connects the 2nd Floor of Terminal 1 with Don Muang train station about 500 meters away. From there, trains run every 30 minutes to the central railway station, Hua Lumphong in downtown Bangkok.

Car rental - car rental firms operate from the Arrivals hall in Terminal 1.

There are separate lots for long- and short-term parking, both of which are located near Terminal 1. The largest lot can be found south of Terminal 2. A shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes between the parking lots and both terminal buildings.

The 2 terminals are connected by a shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes. Alternatively, there's a passenger walkway which will get you from one terminal to the other in roughly 5-10 minutes.

The Sleep Box on the 4th Floor of Terminal 2 has small rooms available for day or night use. Just outside the airport, but connected to it by climate-controlled walkway, is the Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel, where you can relax by the outdoor swimming pool.

Healthy Travel Tip

According to the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand, inhaling lavender oil helps to decrease blood pressure, cool skin temperature and even keep you alert. If you suffer from fatigue or anxiety while travelling, it may be useful to keep a small bottle with you.

We do our best to keep these guides as up-to-date as possible, but cannot guarantee that they fully reflect the current state of every airport, where changes can happen frequently and without notice. Please contact us with any feedback.
