Stockholm Arlanda

Stockholm, Sweden

About The Airport

Sweden's largest airport has 4 terminals - Terminals 2 and 5 are used for international flights, while 3 and 4 are for domestic services. Commonly referred to as simply Arlanda, for many in the country this airport has become their main gateway for international travel. In the pre-Security section of the airport between Terminals 4 and 5, you'll find SkyCity, a shopping and dining area open to both passengers and members of the public.

Free Wi-Fi is available for up to 3 hours or 100 MB.

Arlanda Airport is around 40km north of downtown Stockholm.

Taxi - the airport only allows approved eco-taxis to operate from its taxi stands. All taxis must display their highest fare on both sides of the vehicle. Taxi dispatchers can provide assistance.

Bus - the Air Shuttle travels from Arlanda Airport to the City Terminal Bus Station in downtown Stockholm. This journey takes roughly 45 minutes. Several other bus routes - both local and long distance - also serve the airport.

Train - the Arlanda Express runs between Stockholm Central Station and all 4 airport terminals. This train runs every 15 minutes and reaches the center in 20. Commuter and long-distance trains stop only at Arlanda Central station in SkyCity, between Terminals 4 and 5. The journey time into the city centre is roughly 40 minutes.

Hotel shuttle - free shuttle buses connect the airport with many nearby hotels including Jumbo Stay - a 747 jumbo jet that's been converted into a hostel.

Car rental - car rental agencies operate from Arlanda Airport's car rentals area. Frequent shuttle buses run between the terminals and the car rental companies.

There's a range of parking lots to choose from at different prices - the premium garage next to the terminals is heated. Pre-book via the airport website for cheaper prices.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk across the airport complex from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5 - all are within the same long building. Shuttle buses provide a free transfer service between the terminals.

There are 3 hotels in the airport: Clarion Hotel Arlanda - facilities include a gym, sauna and an outdoor swimming pool with views of the runway, Radisson Blu Sky City, and the Rest and Fly budget hotel. All are in SkyCity.

Healthy Travel Tip

It can get as cold as 26.6 degrees Fahrenheit in Sweden in winter, so if you're flying to Stockholm at that time of year, make sure you have warm clothes in your hand baggage.
