About Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport


Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas is Spain’s busiest international airport. Commercial flights were launched in 1933. Today, the airport serves more than 60 million passengers per year.

Renamed in 2014 after former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez, the airport currently operates five terminals: T1, T2, T3, T4 and T4S. It serves as an important connection between Europe and Latin America.

Our Lounges

We operate lounges at all of the five terminals at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, each offering a welcoming, comfortable space for Priority Pass members.

Terminal 1: The Cibeles Lounge
Open all day, every day, the spacious Cibeles Lounge is located on the airside of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, between Gates B26 and B29. After passing through Passport Control, head to the second floor. Follow the signs to 'Sala VIP'. The Cibeles Lounge is available to passengers of non-Schengen flights up to three hours before departure.

Terminal 2: The Puerta De Alcalá Lounge
Open 24/7, 365 days a year, the contemporary and comfortable Puerta De Alcalá Lounge is available to passengers on domestic departures from T2 and T3, Zones C and D only, and Schengen flights only, three hours before departure. Located airside on the second floor of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, near Gate D62.

Terminal 3: The Puerta Del Sol Lounge
Open every day from 5am to 7pm, the Puerta Del Sol Lounge is available to passengers up to three hours before departing on Schengen flights only. Located on the first floor of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, head to the boarding area after passing through security control, and take the stairs next to Gate E69.

Terminal 4: The Plaza Mayor Lounge
Open daily from 5am to 10pm, the Plaza Mayor Lounge is both bright and comfortable. The lounge is available to passengers departing Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on Schengen flights only, and can be found on the first floor, next to the AENA Exhibition Room.

Terminal T4S: The Neptuno Lounge
Open 24/7, 365 days per year, the Neptuno Lounge is a welcoming space, flooded with natural light. Open to passengers departing on non-Schengen flights only from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, find it on the second floor in the yellow sector.

Terminal 1 at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has a wide range of restaurants, including a sports bar, a grill restaurant and several fast food outlets.

Shoppers should head for The Fashion Gallery, where you can find luxury brands including Bvlgari, Montblanc and Burberry, alongside duty-free outlets.

Terminal 2 at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport also has a wide selection of eateries, including a tapas bar and several cafés.

Alongside duty-free shopping, you can browse brands including Lafiore and Aldeasa. There’s also a handy pharmacy.

Hungry passengers heading for Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport’s Terminal 3 should make a beeline for the ‘Eating Point’. This self-service food court offers a variety of themed restaurants from filled rolls and pastries to meats, wines and grab-and-go snacks.

Duty-free shopping is also available, alongside other retailers including a newsstand and a boutique.

Terminal 4 at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport offers a range of international foods from countries including Spain, Japan and France. If you prefer your food with a side order of entertainment, head to the grill restaurant, which has a large show cooking area.

Terminal 4 is also home to over 60 shops, including Spain’s biggest duty-free store, packed with big names including Puma, Zara and Caroline Herrera.

Passengers departing from Terminal T4S at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport can find delicious fresh meals at Cia, alongside outlets offering Spanish snacks, burgers and coffee.

As well as duty-free shopping, football lovers can pick up official merchandise at the Real Madrid shop, or explore other stores including Les Boutiques, and Fashion and Fun.

Accessibility

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport is located 7.5 miles (12 kilometres) from Madrid city centre in the Barajas district. You can access the airport in several ways:

By car
The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport links to the Madrid ring road, connecting the airport with main roads arriving from all directions: M40 and M40 South, M11, A1, A2 and R2. Be aware some of these routes are toll roads.

Taxis
Madrid taxis are white with a red side stripe. The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has several public taxi ranks throughout the terminals:

It’s worth noting a taxi from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport to the city centre of Madrid (within the M-30) costs a flat rate of €33 (~£28/$35) each way.

By Uber

By bus
An extensive bus network serves Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. In Madrid, the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) operates the following lines: EXPRÉS AEROPUERTO 203 , 200 , N27 EXPRÉS and 101. Intercity buses 822 , 824 , 827 and 828 also connect other surrounding towns to the international airport.

By train
Two train lines go to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport: the C1 and the C10 of Cercanías RENFE. The sole airport train stop is in Terminal T4, floor -1 and is called Aeropuerto T4 (Airport T4). Depending on where you catch your train in Madrid, the journey lasts between 20 and 45 minutes.

The Madrid Metro network connects directly to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Take 8 Nuevos Ministerios - Airport T4. There are two stations at the airport.

It takes on average 13-15 minutes to get to T1-T2-T3, and 18 minutes to T4. Be aware the Barajas stop, located between Aeropuerto T1 T2 T3 and Aeropuerto T4 is in the city, not the airport itself.

Parking
The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has seven public parking areas available for cars and motorbikes in the T1, T2-T3 and T4 terminal buildings. They include P1, P2 and P4, express, VIP and long stay parking. A microbus operates between T1, T2 and T3 and the long-stay car park at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, running every 20 minutes from 6am to 1am, and on request between 1am and 6am.

Travelling between terminals
A free shuttle bus service runs 24/7 and connects Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport terminals T1, T2, T3 and T4. It operates every five minutes from 6am-10pm, and every 20 minutes between 10pm and 6am.
