Cartagena Rafael Nunez

Cartagena, Colombia

About The Airport

Rafael Núñez International Airport serves the Colombian city of Cartagena. It's named for the ex-president of Colombia who also composed the lyrics of the country’s national anthem. Rafael Núñez is the third largest airport in Colombia and plays an important role in the region. It has 2 terminals: International and Domestic.

Free Wi-Fi is available around the gates, but not before Security. For a dedicated Wi-Fi service, visit one of our Priority Pass lounges.

The airport is just 5km from downtown Cartagena.

Taxi - official taxis are yellow and are available for hire 24/7 from the airport. Pay at the taxi booth and then hand the driver your receipt before you start your journey. Taxis in Cartagena operate on zone rates - as a general rule, always be clear on the price before you set off. Paying in Colombian pesos is usually more cost-effective than in US dollars.

Bus - Metrocar operates 3 services from the main road (Street 70), which is one block away from the airport. Look out for the white and green buses, all of which go through or to the city centre and stop at key landmarks. You'll need Colombian pesos for your fare.

Hotel shuttle - a courtesy shuttle service is provided for guests of the nearby Hotel Las Americas. It needs to be arranged at least 24 hours in advance.

Car rental - 2 car rental firms have desks in the Domestic Arrivals Hall.

Both short- and long-term parking is available outside the airport building.

Transit arrangements are straightforward here as the international and domestic terminals are at opposite ends of the same building.

There's no on-site hotel, but the airport is only 10 minutes from the city centre.

Healthy Travel Tip

Mosquitoes can be a problem in Colombia. While the risk of illness is low to moderate, the species which carry malaria, as well as the Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya viruses are reported to be found in the Cartagena area. Bring plenty of mosquito repellent and apply frequently, especially at dawn and dusk.

We do our best to keep these guides as up-to-date as possible, but cannot guarantee that they fully reflect the current state of every airport, where changes can happen frequently and without notice. Please contact us with any feedback.
